We'll walk you through the basics!
Video Transcript
Welcome to the promotion training video. In this video, you will learn how to add and manage sales and promotions.
To access the promotions page, select "More" then "Promotions" and enter your admin password. Here, any current or past promotions will be displayed.
To create a new one, select the "Add Promotion" button.
Next, we'll fill out the promo filter fields on the left. Use the description and note fields to describe the promotion. The description field will be shown as the discount note at the register, but not on the customer receipts.
Set the start and end dates to indicate the time frame during which the promotion will be active.
If applicable, select the customer classes and the store locations to which the promotion will apply.
Set the discount type, choosing between percent, dollar, and fixed price.
If necessary, use the minimum quantity field to set a minimum quantity threshold for the promotion.
Use the unit of measure field to specify the item unit of measure size that is eligible for the promotion.
Next, set the item filter to determine the items that are eligible for this promotion. Click on the drop-down menu and select an item attribute to filter on. You can filter by department, sub-department, PLU, description, name, size, each price or vendor.
Choose from a variety of options in the middle drop-down menu.
Add more rules and determine rule relationships with + rule AND/OR.
First we will take a look at the AND button. Rules connected with AND must all be true. Here's how a promotion would look if we were to apply it to the whole hard goods department.
If we wanted to exclude a sub-department from the sale, we would add another rule and set it to "not equal." Here we can see all the items that are both in the hard goods department and are not in the jewelry sub-department.
Next, we will explore the "or" button. Rules connected with "or" must have only one filter that is true. For example, here is what this promotion would look like if it included all the items in either the Ferns Department or the Grasses Department.
Once you have specified the boundaries of the promotion, don't forget to save.
Once the promotion is saved, VMX will preview up to 500 items that are eligible for this promotion.
Congratulations! You now know how to use the VMX Promotions page to create and manage a variety of promotions. We hope this video has been helpful and that you feel more confident using VMX for this process. Thank you for watching and happy promoting! -
